If China spoils Bhutan's soil now, India's troubles will increase

Beijing, July 22, 2020, Wednesday

China, ambitious and shoulder to shoulder in expanding its borders, is now eyeing Bhutanese soil.

China has laid claim to part of Bhutan. China has also offered a package to Bhutan in return. Even in 1996, China offered to exchange land against Bhutan, which Bhutan turned down.

China has made such a proposal again and behind it its nefarious intention is to encircle India. Because of this proposal, China would hand over the disputed land to Bhutan on the northern border and in return take control of the disputed territories on the western border, including Doklam. If China is trying to do the same deal again and Bhutan agrees to it, India's troubles will increase.

China's foreign ministry has once again made its claim on Bhutan's eastern border. China is increasing pressure on Bhutan for a deal and is also claiming new shares.

If Bhutan accepts China's land swap package and Doklam stays with China, the Chinese military will reach a sensitive area of the Siliguri corridor known as Chicken Neck. This is the same area whose roads connect India with its North East states.

Experts believe that for the first time since 1996, China has re-submitted its proposal. China's intention is to appease Bhutan. At the same time, China is sending a message to Bhutan that if it does not agree to the deal, China will increase its claim to other areas.

Bhutan's foreign ministry has not yet commented. No border talks have been held between Bhutan and China since the conflict in Doklam.
