Heavy rains in China today blew up a dam built on the Anhui River to release floodwaters. Heavy rains killed more than a hundred people.

The rats, a tributary of the Moti Yangtze River, were blown up today to release water from a dam on the river to control flooding, state TV said. Water levels in many rivers, including the Yangtze River, were rising above dangerous levels. Extreme levels of rainfall were reported this year.

The three gates of the three massive Gorji dams on the Yangtze River were opened last week. The water level in the world's largest dam rose fifteen meters above the flood level.

Authorities said last week that 140 people had been killed in the floods. 37.89 million people were affected by heavy rains and floods. A total of 433 rivers in China were flooded. On Sunday, China's National Vaidya School renewed its yellow storm warning.

The whole country was in an uproar because of the rain. Heavy rain was forecast from Sunday morning to Monday. Heavy rains were forecast in Tibet, Yunnan and Gangzhou provinces. The Center urged the local state governments to remain alert.
