Tensions are high in the entire region after a monk was publicly beaten to death in Meerut, UP, like in Palghar in Maharashtra.

According to the details received, Kanti Prasad, who runs a shop in the temple of a Shiva temple in Bhavnagar, Meerut, was mostly wearing a saffron colored rug around his neck. On Monday, he went to pay the light bill.

While they were returning, Anas Qureshi alias Janleva made a joke by making vulgar remarks on Kanti Prasad's saffron colored blanket. Kanti Prasad objected. Ans beat Kanti Prasad in public on the road.

Wounded Kanti Prasad reached the village and complained to Anas's house. Anas came back after him. Anas and his family again killed the monk.

The monk's family then rushed him to the hospital where he died on Tuesday. After receiving the information, Hindu organizations rioted at the police station. Police later arrested the killer, while the search for the other accused along with Anas is on.
