Jaipur, Ta. 14 July 2020, Tuesday

Action has been taken against Sachin Pilot in the ongoing political battle in Rajasthan Congress. The Congress has handed over the reins of the party to Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara in the Ashok Gehlot government in place of Sachin Pilot. Dotasara is an MLA for the third time in a row from the Laxmangarh assembly constituency in Rajasthan's Sikar district and is considered one of Gehlot's personal leaders.

Govind Singh Dotasara was born on October 1, 1964 in Dhani village of Kriparamji in Laxmangarh. His father Mohan Singh Dotasara was a government professor. Dotasara has studied BCom and LLB from Rajasthan University. They come from the Jat community which is considered very important in the politics of Rajasthan.

The Jat voters are considered to be the traditional voters of the BJP to whom the Congress has handed over the reins of the party to Dotasara instead of the pilot.

Dotasara's political journey

Govind Singh Dotasara became active in the Youth Congress after student politics. He held various positions in the Youth Congress. In 2005, he contested on a Congress ticket as a member of the Laxmangarh District (Sikar) Panchayat Samiti. He won this election and was also elected as the Minister of Laxmangarh Panchayat Samiti.

Since then, Govind Singh has not looked back and continues to move forward in politics. His political guru and former Congress state president Chaudhary Narayan Singh has also made a significant contribution to Dotasara's political life. Dotasara has been the Congress district president of Sikar for seven consecutive years. Because of this they have a good understanding of organization. He has been MLA for three consecutive terms from Laxmangarh Assembly seat.

Dotasara won his first assembly ticket in the 2008 assembly elections. He won the election by just 34 votes and became an MLA. Then in 2013, he perpetuated his political supremacy by defeating BJP's Subhash Maharia. However, only 20 Congress MLAs were able to win that election.

Govind Singh Dotasara was the secretary in the Pradesh Congress Committee and was in charge of the party's media during the 2018 assembly elections. In 2018, he managed to score a hat-trick as the Congress candidate from that seat. This is why Gehlot gave him a place in his cabinet and has now handed over the reins of the party's state president after making him education minister.
