Did the Dubai hospital waive the Rs 1.52 crore bill of a poor patient suffering from corona?

Dubai, July 16, 2020, Thursday

Millions are being treated in government and private hospitals for the corona virus. Treatment at government hospitals is available at token rates but not everyone gets admission easily due to overcrowding. Admission to a private hospital can be done quickly but the bill is not affordable to the poor and middle class. The professional management of private hospitals does not even release a patient without collecting the bill, but a hospital in Dubai has introduced humanity by waiving a bill of Rs 1.5 crore.

A positive patient from Corona in the Indian state of Telangana was treated in Dubai for 20 days and half a bill was waived. Not only that, the man who recovered after the treatment was also given a free flight ticket and Rs 10,000. According to reports, 6-year-old Odanla Rajesh, a resident of Jagital in Telangana, tested positive for corona and was admitted to Dubai on April 4. Apart from Corona, he had to undergo treatment in a hospital for 20 days due to another problem. It was not possible for him to pay such a large hospital bill.

The Gulf Works Protection Society operates in Dubai. The matter came to the notice of the Indian Consulate, which was headed by Sumnath Reddy. A letter was written by the embassy on humanitarian grounds to forgive the poor man's bill. The hospital, in response to the embassy's request, waived the patient's bill on humanitarian grounds, as well as paid Rs 10,000 for a free flight ticket and out-of-pocket expenses to return to India.
