Attack on the way to Manipur: More than three jawans martyred

Imphal Ta. Thursday 30 July 2020

Three soldiers were killed and several others were injured when militants struck an Indian Army patrol in a hilly area in Manipur's Chandel district from behind. This is the whole mountainous area. The militants struck from behind during the Indian Army's operation against militant groups on the Indo-Myanmar border. Three Assam Rifles personnel were killed and six others were injured. The injured were admitted to a military hospital in Imphal West district for treatment.

The attack was carried out by the local militant group People's Liberation Army, according to unconfirmed reports. However, this was not confirmed by the People's Liberation Army. Military reinforcements on the Indo-Myanmar border were stepped up following the incident.

Also in November last year, militants in Chandel district bombed a convoy of Assam Rifles. Then came the shootings. The militants fled the mountainous area as they did not feel like Fave himself. No Indian Army personnel were killed or injured in the attack. Seventeen to eighteen Indian soldiers were killed in the attack on Wednesday night, according to another report. However, the report was dismissed by the Indian Army as a rumor.

Small and large terrorist groups are active in most of the states of Northeast India, including Manipur. In Manipur and Nagbhoomi, such small terrorist groups frequently strike and destroy public property. Innocent civilians are often killed in attacks by terrorist groups. This is becoming an inevitable evil. No previous central government has made such a concerted effort to establish peace and law and order in the northeastern states.
