Mortar shell from Pakistan on LoC, one jawan martyred, two wounded

In the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian soldier has been shot dead by Pakistan and provocation efforts by Pakistan on the Line of Control (LoC) are underway.

Pakistan opened fire on the LoC near Shahpur in the Kirni sector of Poonch district, killing one jawan and seriously injuring two others.

Pakistan tried to target Indian territory with bullets and mortars but India gave a scathing response to Pakistan. However, one jawan was martyred and two others were injured in the firing.

The Indian Army deployed at the Line of Control (LoC) has responded strongly to Pakistan's move and several Pakistani posts have been destroyed in retaliation by India.

Also violated ceasefire on 12 June

Earlier on June 12, a ceasefire was violated by the Pakistan Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistani army opened fire on key outposts and villages in two sectors near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. According to the Indian Army, Pakistan has been firing near the LoC for almost a week without any provocation.
