Manmohan Singh accuses Modi government of not taking appropriate action on epidemic and LAC issue

New delhi date. 23 June 2020, Tuesday

A congressional working committee meeting was held today on the Koro crisis and the China border dispute. The meeting was attended by Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, former finance minister P.S. Several leaders, including Chidambaram, have been present. In this meeting, the Congress leaders have targeted the Modi government.

Sonia Gandhi said, "India today is in the grip of a terrible economic crisis, an epidemic and now a dispute with China over the Line of Actual Control. The cause of every crisis is the mismanagement of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA government and its misguided policies.

Advising to overcome the economic crisis, Sonia Gandhi said that the biggest need at the moment is to provide massive fiscal stimulus to the poor, MSME sector. Instead, the Modi government announced a hollow monetary package that was less than one per cent of GDP.

He further said that while crude oil prices are falling, the government has been increasing petrol and diesel prices for 17 consecutive days. On the issue of Koro's crisis, he said that despite the Prime Minister's assurances, the epidemic of Koro continues. The Center assured help to the state governments but did not give a single rupee.

Former Prime Minister of the country Dr. Manmohan Singh said the epidemic was not being dealt with by the courage and effort required to deal with the Koro crisis. If the China dispute does not end firmly, a serious situation will arise and I support Soniaji's remarks.
