Lightning strikes and catastrophic storms in Bihar

Lightning and storms are wreaking havoc in Bihar today. Lightning killed 83 people in Bihar while many others were burnt. In Uttar Pradesh too, 9 people were killed due to lightning.

Lightning struck 23 districts of Bihar, causing loss of life and property. The highest death toll was in Gopalganj where 13 people were killed, apart from 8-8 in Madhubani and Nabada.

Gopalganj, East Champaran, Sivan, Banka, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur in Bihar are the 8 districts where at least 5 people have died.

At least nine people have been killed in lightning strikes not only in Bihar but also in Uttar Pradesh. Seven people have been killed and many others injured in lightning strikes in Deoria. Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a lightning strike in Barabanki.

The meteorological department has issued red alerts in 12 districts for the next 48 hours. These districts include East and West Champaran, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Saharsa and Madhepura. The meteorological department has forecast heavy rains in Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Khagadia and Jamui.
