Jammu and Kashmir: Army succeeds, top Hizbul commander shot dead in Shopian


Srinagar, Ta. Tuesday 16 June 2020

The army had a major success in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The army shot dead three militants hiding in a village in Shopian. Hezbollah's top commander was killed in the encounter. With this, the army has avenged the murder of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita. The army has killed 30 militants in the last one month. 17 terrorists were killed in 10 days in Shopian.

According to Jammu and Kashmir Police DGP Dilbag Singh, three militants were killed in Shopian today. One of them is the top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and most importantly the three terrorists of Hizbul who killed Sarpanch Ajay Pandita. Those terrorists have been killed by the army today.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba-affiliated organization The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility for the killing of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita. The military's clear message is that the transition to terrorism must end. Three militants have been killed so far in the clashes, a senior police official said. The operation is underway. Weapons and ammunition have also been seized from the spot.

A joint cordon and search operation was launched at midnight by a joint team of police, army 44RR and CRPF in Turkwangam, the official said. The area where the terrorists were hiding was cordoned off. Earlier the militants were asked to surrender, the police officer said but he opened fire on the investigation force which led to a clash. Three militants have been killed and their bodies have also been seized.
