Former world champion Vishwanath Anand returned to India on Saturday. He had been stranded in Germany for more than three months due to travel restrictions on the Kovid-19.
Anand flew to Germany to play in the Bundesliga Chess League in February and was due to return in March, but sports activities were also affected due to travel restrictions around the world due to Kovid-19.
Anand reached Bengaluru via Air India flight A1-120 from Frankfurt via Delhi. "Yes, Anand is back," said his wife Aruna. He said he was happy to be back in India. "We are just happy to be back," he said earlier. He will have to complete the process of self-isolation and return to Chennai as per protocol.
According to a health department official, world champion Anand will have to remain self-quarantined for seven days and home quarantine for 14 days if he comes negative in the investigation following the new rules announced by the Karnataka government.
