Time to boost the economy, no need for nationwide lockdown: Government panel

New Delhi, 29 May 2020, Friday

The two panels set up by the central government to review the economy have advised not to extend the lockdown after May 31.

In a report submitted to the government, the panels said it was time to revive the economy. The panel advised the government to keep strict rules in the containment zone but open areas where corona cases are rare.

However, the panel has advised to close religious places, schools, colleges and theaters. According to a report published in an English newspaper, the panel was formed by the government in March to provide solutions and suggestions. The panel consists of 11 groups.

A member of one of the groups said there was no need for a nationwide lockdown. "Where there are more cases, the containment zone should be maintained."
