Religious places are going to open in the state from June 1, the government decided

Amidst the possibility of prolonging the lockdown, there is talk of opening all religious places in West Bengal from June 1. The decision was taken by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after a meeting with officials on Friday. Simultaneously, all government and private offices with 100 per cent employees will be opened in West Bengal from June 8.

Tea and jute manufacturing companies in West Bengal will be able to start working with 100 per cent employees from June 1 and the state has announced various reliefs for them. On Friday, Home Minister Amit Shah discussed the lockdown with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the next day with all the state chief ministers.

According to a report, the lockdown could be extended for two weeks after May 31. States and Union Territories may be allowed to continue or enforce a strict lockdown from June 1. After Lockdown 4.0, the central government will have limited rights. While the decision to resume school and metro services has been left to the states. Apart from that, the state governments will also decide whether to open religious places or not.

The central government may order the states to continue strict enforcement in the containment zones of the 30 most affected municipal areas. Apart from that, the government may keep its decision to close international flights, political rallies, malls and cinema halls intact.
