New Delhi, May 11, 2020, Monday

The good news for those stranded for more than 40 days due to the country-wide lockdown is that train service is being resumed on the limited routes decided by the railways. Passenger trains have been stranded since March 25 due to a nationwide lockdown. It was the first time in the history of independent India that the railways had not been run for such a long time.

Express trains are now starting to operate on some limited routes after operating long-distance trains for provincial workers even amid the increasing transition to Corona. According to the information received, AC special trains will run on route 15 of Delhi Rajdhani Express on Tuesday. The trains will run from New Delhi to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Vilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi. Booking of some trains running on the tracks from Tuesday will start online from 4 pm on Monday.

As per the plan of the railway system, a total of 30 trains will start operation. These trains departing from New Delhi will stop at some important places but food and drink will not be sold. It is believed that the government is considering launching an express train like Shatabdi for which the experience of labor trains started from May 1 will also be taken into consideration. There is also a review of how passengers can travel safely with compliance with social distance.

Labor special trains are currently carrying an average of one thousand passengers and the idea is to operate the trains only by rectifying the difficulties and shortcomings. While the Tejas, Shatabdi and Jan Shatabdi connecting the cities covering a limited distance of 500 km will now begin in the next phase. Thermal skinning of those who wish to travel in the train and if any symptoms of the disease are seen will not be allowed to travel in the train. Railway Minister Piyush Gohel tweeted that plans were afoot to gradually launch the railway service.
