ICC threatens to cancel India's host for 2021 T20 World Cup

New delhi date. May 28, 2020, Thursday

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has threatened to snatch the hosting of the 2021 T20 World Cup from India.

The ICC and the Cricket Board of India have long been embroiled in a controversy over tax breaks. The ICC has demanded that the Cricket Board of India provide tax relief to the Indian government for the World Cup. If the government does not provide tax relief, the ICC will have to bear a loss of Rs 757 crore. The ICC is not ready for that.

That is why the ICC is pressuring the Cricket Board of India to make representations to the government on the issue. Earlier, when the T20 World Cup was held in India in 2016, the ICC had to bear a loss of કરોડ 30 million. This is because the cricket board did not seek permission from the government to grant tax breaks.

The ICC has previously told India that if it wants to host the 20201 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup, it must seek the government's permission for tax relief.

Talks between the two organizations on the issue have been going on for the last two months. The ICC had asked the cricket board to respond by May 18. Although India insisted that the response be given by June 30, the ICC was not ready for it.

The ICC has said that if India does not respond by May 18, India's host could be canceled.
