The pressure created in the south-east Bay of Bengal has started changing into a cyclone. Which is advancing rapidly along the coasts of West Bengal and North Odisha in the north-west of the Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department on Sunday issued an alert for the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh after Cyclone Amphan swept across the Bay of Bengal.
The storm in the Bay of Bengal is expected to accelerate in the next 12 hours. Which could turn into a severe cyclonic storm on Monday, May 18th. Heavy rain with strong winds is expected during this time. Fishermen are advised not to go ashore.
Cyclone risk in Tamil Nadu too
There is a risk of cyclonic storm at Pamban port in Tamil Nadu.
Chance of strong winds and rain
According to the meteorological department, Cyclone Amphan is likely to bring normal to moderate rains to Odisha on May 18 while heavy rains are forecast in some places. Heavy rains are also expected in some places, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The storm could cause rain in most coastal states.
