China's reaction to US-mediated talks on border dispute with India

Beijing, Ta. May 29, 2020, Friday

The United States has indicated its readiness to mediate in resolving the growing border dispute between India and China. In its investigation, Chinese state media said China and India did not need US help in resolving the current border dispute. US President Donald Trump expressed readiness to mediate in resolving the border dispute between the two countries through a tweet.

"We have told both India and China that the United States is willing, willing and able to mediate in the border dispute," Trump tweeted. There was no official response to Trump's tweet from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, but an article in a state-run newspaper said the two countries did not need President Trump's help.

"India and China are capable of resolving the current dispute through bilateral talks," the Global Times reported. Both countries should be wary of the United States, which seeks to destroy peace and harmony in the region.

Tensions between India and China over the de facto LoC in Ladakh and Sikkim have risen sharply in recent times. The two countries are also said to have increased troop deployments and patrolling along the border.
