A nationwide lockdown has been imposed to protect people from a global epidemic like the Corona virus. The fourth phase lockdown was extended to May 31 and will end on Sunday. The countrymen are in a dilemma as to whether one more phase of lockdown will be implemented in the country. However, there is no official statement from the central government on Lockdown 5.0 yet.
Home Minister Amit Shah called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Saat Lok Kalyan Marg (PM's residence) a day before the end of the lockdown, sparking speculation of another lockdown. The first sign of increasing lockdown is Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant gave on Friday. He demanded that the lockdown be extended for another 15 days. After talking to the home minister, Sawant said the 15-day lockdown needs to be extended as Corona's graph is rising.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday held talks with the Chief Ministers of all the states on the completion of Lockdown 4.0. He also sought the views of all the chief ministers on extending the lockdown. According to a report, Prime Minister Modi will also have a keynote address on Sunday and it is almost certain that the lockdown will be extended for two weeks.
Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Thane, Indore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat and Kolkata have the highest number of corona patients in the country and these cities account for 70 per cent of the total corona patients in the country.
