Alcohol destroys corona, open liquor shops: Congress MLA

Jaipur, May 1, 2020, Friday

Leaders are not shying away from making bizarre statements even in the midst of a lockdown.

A statement has been made by a Congress MLA from Rajasthan which has become a topic of discussion in the country as well. An MLA by the name of Bharatsinh Kundanpur has written a letter to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressing concern that the non-opening of liquor shops has hit the state's economy hard. As a result, illegal domestic distilleries are rampant in the state.

Demonstrating his knowledge, Bharatsinh wrote in the letter that while washing hands with alcohol can eradicate the corona virus, drinking alcohol can also clear the throat. For this, the government should be allowed to open liquor shops.

He further wrote that the demand for liquor has also increased due to the lockdown and would welcome the decision to open liquor shops. Lack of alcohol is affecting the health of drinkers. In addition, the government could lose thousands of crores of rupees in excise revenue.

He fears that drinking alcohol will get people in trouble. Two people have lost their eyes due to drinking such liquor in one place in Rajasthan.
