A patient who does not have corona symptoms can be discharged without a test, new rules to be announced

New Delhi, May 9, 2020

The government's health ministry has made drastic changes to the rules for treating corona patients. The policy was announced today.

The new change eliminates the need to test a corona patient before discharge. If the patient has no symptoms and the condition is normal, he can be discharged from the hospital in 10 days. The patient has to stay in isolation for seven days instead of 14 days Such a patient will be followed up by video conference on the 14th day.

Patients with minimal or no corona symptoms will be kept in the covid care facility, where their temperature will be checked regularly and pulse oximetry will be monitored. If fever does not appear for three days, it will be discharged after 10 days.

If even a few serious symptoms of corona appear, the patient will be placed on an oxygenated bed at the Dedicated Covid Health Center, where their oxygen levels will be checked. Symptoms such as fever, shortness of breath, and lack of oxygen should not be present.

In case of severe patients, discharge will be given only after corona test is negative. If the patient has fever, cough or difficulty in breathing within seven days after discharge, the patient should contact Kovid Care Center or State Helpline.
