India shared with the EU its approach to tackling Kovid-19

New delhi date. 27 April 2020, Monday

India has shared with the European Union its method of preventing the spread of Covid-19, including the massive response announced by the government in January 2020. Gayatri Issar Kumar, India's representative to the European Union, said the mission had made immediate contact with Indian students studying at a Belgian university to make other facilities available, including accommodation and medical care. At the same time, New Delhi ensured that the required medical supplies from India continued to flow to the European Union.

Closing borders has been challenging

Responding to the situation in the European Union, Gayatri Issar said, "In a way, the EU is more affected because the virus has spread directly to Europe and is spreading very fast." The virus first spread to Italy and then to Spain, Belgium, Germany and other EU member states.

According to a report, the worrying situation in the European Union is improving today. Closing borders, enforcing lockdowns and other measures to prevent them have been a challenge for EU citizens and the government, but they have succeeded. The EU leadership quickly created a 'green lane' and continued to supply essential goods through the EU's internal borders without any hindrance, creating no shortage of supermarkets.

Adherence to disciplined social distance

According to Gayatri, hygiene and other precautions have become a part of people's normal behavior and they are disciplining the rules of social distance. He also expressed happiness over the safety of the Indian community in Belgium.

India-EU worked in coordination

The Indo-EU summit scheduled for March 13, 2020 was postponed due to the Corona epidemic. In addition, with the announcement of the lockdown in India, efforts were made to repatriate medical supplies and European nationals from India to the EU. The government repatriated Indian nationals stranded in Italy and The Hague via the US and Canada, while India helped 20,000 EU nationals stranded in various states reach their member states. At the same time, the leaders are keeping in touch with each other and trying to revive the economy.
