38 thousand crore defense deal will be approved for Tejas aircraft

New Delhi, Mar 18, 2020 Wednesday

The Defense Ministry on Wednesday approved nearly Rs 2,000 crore defense deals. The deal will be purchased for modern Tejas Jets. About 3 Tejas jets will be purchased which will increase the strength of the army.

HAL has signed agreements for 4 of the 4 Jets. The government claimed that the purchase would also encourage Make in India, as most of the jets would be manufactured in India.

There are reports that three years after the deal, HAL will start delivering the first set of MK-1 jets. That is, the aircraft will meet the army three years after the deal that is currently going to be done. Currently the Indian Air Force has a shortage of warplanes. The planes, which are also operating in the old fashioned way, were approved by the Ministry of Defense because of the need for modern planes.
