In a single day after the apex of the Supreme Court, Rs. 14,690 crore deposited


Vodafone's Supreme Court rejects proposal to deposit Rs 2,500 crore by evening and Rs 1,000 crore by Friday

After the Supreme Court's stance in the Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) case, Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Tata Group raised a total of Rs. 14,690 crore were deposited.

Following the directives of the telecom department following the Supreme Court order, Bharti Airtel had earlier said on Monday. 10,000 crore while Vodafone gets Rs. 2,500 crore and Tata Group will get Rs. 2,190 crore was deposited. However, in the case of AGR repayment, the Supreme Court on Monday paid Rs. 2500 crore and up to Friday Rs. 1000 crore, and rejected the proposal to take no punitive action against him.

It is worth mentioning that Airtel has already deposited Rs 10,000 crore in arrears of AGR after the Supreme Court's scrutiny and the government's stance. A total of Rs 10,000 crore has been paid from Bharti Airtel, Bharti Hexacom and Telenor, the company said in a statement. A bench of Justices Arun Mishra, Justice S Abdul Nazir and Justice MR Shah declined to accept the motion of Mukul Rohatgi, a lawyer present from Vodafone.

Rohtagi told the bench that the company is ready to pay Rs 2,500 crore from the balance of AGR today and Rs 1000 crore on Friday but no punitive action should be taken against it. He appealed to the bench that Vodafone deposits deposited with the government should not be confiscated. Vodafone-Idea will have to pay a total of Rs 53,000 crore to the telecom department through AGR.

However, Rs 2,500 crore was deposited today by Vodafone-Idea, the roof of the Supreme Court. 2190 crore was also deposited by Tata Group. It is worth mentioning that on Friday, the Supreme Court dismissed telecom companies for delay in payment of dues to the Department of Telecom. Following the Supreme Court order, the telecom department had ordered to deposit the remaining Rs 1.47 lakh crore by 12 pm.
