Hate Speech Claims Between Election Commission and Former Chief Election Commissioner

New delhi date. 15. Saturday February 2020

The country's Chief Election Commissioner and former Chief Election Commissioner have come to the notice of taking action on the hat speech of the leaders.

This is perhaps the first time that differences between the Chief Commissioners of the Election Commission have been made public. Former Chief Election Commissioner S Qureshi raised the question as to why the Election Commission did not lodge a police complaint against BJP leader Anurag Thakur and BJP MP Pramod Verma during the Delhi assembly polls.

In response to this, the Election Commission has sent a reply to Quraish saying that no action has been taken in the matter of hatch speeches during his tenure. In two cases, there was a pause.

In a letter to the Election Commission, Qureshi said, "It is surprising that Qureshi has forgotten the contents of the hatch speech as he wishes, but this may mislead the readers."
