Curfew in several areas in Delhi, see-off order, death toll 13

Violence in Delhi between supporters and opponents of the Citizenship Improvement Act (CAA) remained unchanged for the third day on Tuesday.

More than 135 people were injured in the violence that broke out between the two groups on Monday, with the death toll rising to 13 as some died.

Anonymous curfew was imposed in several areas, not to mention the halt of violence. Four people, including a constable Ratanlal, were killed on Monday. Police have filed 11 FIRs against the mischievous elements.

Union Home Minister Amethi Shah called for an emergency meeting when the situation in Delhi was getting stressful, in which Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also appealed to Delhiites to maintain peace. He visited the injured at GTB Hospital and paid tribute to the constable who was killed in the violence.

The epicenter of the violence in north-east Delhi, where a riotous element of fire broke out in Maujpur, prompted slogans and shouting slogans. On the other side, two fire tenders were damaged by storms in Gokulpuri.

Stones, bricks and burned tires were found on several roads in the area. On Monday, anti-CAA violence took the communist side, injuring more than 200 people, including 48 police personnel.

As violence continues in northeast Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened an emergency meeting with Lt Governor Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik and reviewed the situation.

Shah had set up a fleet of more than 1,500 policemen to restore peace in Delhi. The meeting also decided to join the political party activists in all areas to reactivate peace committees and restore peace.

In Mohajpur and surrounding areas, mischievous elements were seen carrying sticks, iron rods and openly paving the way and hitting pedestrians. He vandalized the vehicle and killed several journalists.

Following the violence on Monday, the system decided to close the schools on Tuesday and fears of riotous elements left residents in their homes. There was hardly any police presence in the area. Mischievous elements were moving open, threatening people and vandalizing shops.

Some of the housewives in Mojpur were leaving their homes and moving elsewhere. One resident said he was feeling insecure at his home here. Another resident said that for the first time in 35 years, Delhi has witnessed such an upsurge in anti-Sikh riots.

Police sources said that more than 48 policemen and more than 98 civilians were injured in clashes between CAA supporters and anti-protesters in Jaffarabad, Mahajpur, Chandanbagh, Khureji Khas and Bhajanpura on Monday.

A senior official said that Ratan Lal was killed due to stones thrown during a stonemason in Chandanbagh while the cause of other people was not yet known. Lt Governor Anil Baijal paid tribute to Constable Ratan Lal on Tuesday.

One of those killed in the violence yesterday was Mohammed Furkan's brother Imra, who blamed BJP leader Kapil Mishra for the violence and the murder of his brother.

Imran said that Kapil Mishra tweeted an ultimatum to Delhi Police to clear the roads of anti-CAA protesters and said that people will remain silent till the departure of US President Donald Trump in India. Until Kapil Mishra's tweet, everything was quiet. Since American President Trump was in Delhi, the Delhi Police was engaged in his security in that area.

Therefore, paramilitary personnel have been appointed to prevent violence in Delhi. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reviewed the status quo with legislators and senior officials of all parties and appealed to the people to keep peace. He said people should maintain peace.

Violence does not solve a problem while negotiations can solve every problem. He said Delhi's borders should be sealed to prevent outside elements from spreading violence in the city. Five stations on the Delhi Metro's Pink Line were also closed on Tuesday for the next day.

BJP leaders demand action against Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma, Kapil Mishra

Applications were filed in the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court on Tuesday over incidents related to violence in northeast Delhi. The cases will be heard on Wednesday. The first application was made in the Supreme Court on behalf of former Chief Information Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah and others, who sought to file an FIR on complaints related to the SEA-related violence.

The petition demanded action against BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Parvesh Verma and Kapil Mishra for inciting their hatred and crowd. On the other side, Habibullah, Bhim Army chief Chandrasekhar Azad and social activist Bahadur Abbas Naqvi have filed a petition in the Supreme Court ordering the system for the protection of women protesters in Shaheenbagh.
