Congress plans to send Priyanka Gandhi to Rajya Sabha: Chhattisgarh

New Delhi: 17 February 2020, Monday

The Congress Mowdy was reported to be planning to send Priyanka Gandhi to the Rajya Sabha and create an MP.

Sonia Gandhi is said to have a desire to change party committees once again after the Delhi Assembly elections. Priyanka is likely to be sent to Rajya Sabha from Chhattisgarh.

The strength of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha is likely to decline this year as 68 members will retire simultaneously. The fear of further damage to the Congress was being served. The strength of the Congress is decreasing day by day as there are very few states currently with the Congress government.

Currently there are 19 members of Congress in the Rajya Sabha. It is likely to fall to nine. Under these circumstances, the strength of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha could be greatly diminished.

The Congress considers the will of the Mowdy congregation to send some strong members such as Randeep Surjewala, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Priyanka Gandhi to the Rajya Sabha. The Congress believes that the Congress can win nine more seats in the Rajya Sabha besides nine on its own strength.
