In domestic wrestling, India won third place in the medal table by winning five medals with five gold, six silver and two bronze. This is the best performance in the history of this Asian Wrestling Championship in India. Japan was the first to win 3 medals with 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze. Iran finished second with 3 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze.
India received three more medals on the final day of the Asian Wrestling Championships played at New Delhi's KD Jadhav Stadium. Jitendra Kumar made the trip to the finals in the 5kg freestyle wrestling category. In the final, however, he lost to Kazakhstan's Dania Kisanov.
