AAP's Amanatullah in Okhla, BJP ahead, know ... Muslim sitting conditions

New delhi date. 11 February 2020 Tuesday

The results of the Delhi assembly elections are coming today. The people's eyes are on the 8 Muslim majority assembly seats in Delhi. These meetings are being held against the CAA in Delhi.

Former Congress MLA Pervez Hashmi is in the fray in front of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan at Delhi's Okhala seat. BJP's Brahma Singh is trying his luck. AAP won here in 2015. In the initial trend, Amanatullah Khan is behind.

In Shaheen Bagh, which is under Okhla assembly constituency, women have been sitting on the fields day and night for the last 58 days. The BJP had made Shaheen Bagh an issue in his election campaign, while Arvind Kejriwal had kept distance from the Muslim majority in the entire election campaign. The Congress was standing in support of Shaheen Bagh.

Muslim voters make up about 12 per cent of Delhi's politics. Out of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi, 8 are considered Muslim majority, which includes Ballymaran, Silampur, Okhla, Mustafabad, Chandni Chowk, Matia Mahal, Babarpur and Kiradi seats.

The constituency has a Muslim electorate of 35 to 60 percent. Along with the Trilokpuri and Seemapuri seats, Muslim voters are considered very important.
