Wondering about 500 note instead of 100 from ATM in Karnataka

Bangalore, Ta. January 11, 2020, Saturday

Customers were surprised at the departure of five Sony notes instead of one hundred from an ATM at Canara Bank here and took extra money home. The amount that many people took out of the ATM was Rs 1.70 lakh.

Officials said this was due to the agency's mistake of paying the ATM machines. A Kodanu police officer said, "The company responsible for making rupees in the ATM had put five hundred notes instead of a Sony note in the tray of a Sony note.

Then when people started the process of extracting one hundred rupees, five hundred rupees were left out. Thus, customers took Rs 1.70 lakh from the ATM. A police official said that five hundred notes were going out of the ATM in Madikari city of Kodanu district whenever people pressed a button to remove a rupee note.

Madikari town is about 268 km southwest of Bengaluru. The police official said that someone had informed the bank about the incident and the bank had investigated the incident. The bank tried to recover the money in its own way, but in the end, the police recovered Rs 65,000 from them.

'Because of the bank's mistake, two customers were reluctant to return the money. Finally, the note-paying agency informed the police that the police had withdrawn the money after explaining to the customers. However, no FIR was filed in connection with the incident, police said.
