The agreement between the Bodo-central government will surrender to 1550 extremists

Extremists ready to surrender after government accepts most wishes except separate Bodoland

Guwahati, Ta. January 27, 2020, Monday

For the past 50 years, the Bodo state has been demanding extremists from Assam for the past 50 years and has been protesting with violent agitation for this. So far 2823 people have been killed in the violence.

In the midst of this situation, the central government has once again tried to end this extremism. Leaders of the central government and the extremist organization National Democratic Front of Bodoland have made an agreement.

Under which the government guarantees efforts for the interest of the Bodo tribesmen and other citizens who have been accepted by the Bodo agitators. This is the third explanation in history so far between the Bodo extremists and the government.

There are reports that the Bodo extremist leaders' decision has also been endorsed by the organization's 1,550 cadre and has recently given up arms. A government official said there was agreement between the two in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and leaders of Bodo extremists.

The agreement has been guaranteed to give some political rights and financial assistance to some people of the community to the Mujib Bodo tribes. However, these agreements did not acknowledge the demand for a separate Bodo Land state. These agreements are made in accordance with the Constitution.

Assam's minister Himmanta Biswa claimed that after the agreements, 1550 extremists of the organization announced their surrender on January 30.

On the other hand, after the peace agreement between the government and the Bodo organizations, the non-Bodo organizations on the other hand have departed and declared them to remain in Assam for 12 hours. This has seen its impact in four districts of Assam.

Apart from the small incidents of violence, no major casualty has been reported. Non Bodo organizations demand that not only Bodo but non Bodo citizens be included in these agreements.

Twice in previous agreements with Bodo have not been successful

The first agreement was signed between the All Bodo Students' Union and the government in 1993, after which, without proper disposal, extremist activity was resumed. This led to the formation of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). The Council covers important issues including education, health. Apart from spending Rs 1500 crore in the current agreement, the demand for more representation in the assembly has also been accepted. Although the militants had said that they would not take up arms even after the earlier agreements, they later raised the weapons again, as promised by the government.
