(PTI) New Delhi, Ta. January 10, 2020, Friday

Delhi police on Friday released pictures of nine people, including Aishi Ghosh, president of JNU student association and two persons from ABVP, in a case of violence at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Sunday night.

On the other hand, Ghosh claimed that he also had evidence that he was assaulted after police announced that Aishi Ghosh was involved in JNU violence.

The crime branch of the Delhi Police organized a press conference on Friday evening to identify those involved in JNU violence, including Aishi Ghosh, Chunchun Kumar, Pankaj Mishra, Yogendra Bhardwaj, Priya Ranjan, Vikas Patel, Dolan. The names of two people from the ABVP organization have also been released in the attack.

Delhi Police's Crime Branch DCP Joy Tirkey said no suspects have been detained in the case, but we can initiate their inquiry soon.

He said there were three cases registered against the violence and we are investigating it. Tirkey said a number of misinformation was being spread about the investigation into the case. Registration was to take place from 1st January to 5th January.

However, SFI, AISA, AISF and DSF student organizations prevented students from registering. Students who were registering were threatened. Subsequently, the dispute continued to escalate, and on January 5, several rooms of the Periyar and Sabarmati hostels were attacked.

Tirkey added that WhatsApp groups were also formed to carry out violence in JNU. The bookkeepers knew which room they were going to go to. CCTV footage of the violence was not found. However, we have identified the accused through viral videos. We have talked to 30-32 Witnesses about that.

Meanwhile, Aishi Ghosh, president of the student association, said after the pictures were released by the Delhi Police, I was innocent. I also have evidence that I was attacked. I have complete faith in law and order. He will investigate fair, I will get justice. But I have no idea why the Delhi Police is being biased. My complaint is not registered in the FIR form. I haven't beaten anyone.
