Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case: 19 convicted including Brajesh Thakur, sentenced to 28th

Delhi court has convicted 19 including Brajesh Thakur in sexual harassment case against 34 children at a shelter home in Bihar. One accused was acquitted by the court for lack of evidence. All convicts will be sentenced on January 28.

34 girls were sexually assaulted at Muzaffarpur Shelter Home in Bihar. The main accused in the highly debated case is Shelter Home Administrator Brajesh Thakur Delhi court convicts 19 accused, including Brajesh Thakur, in a 1045-page verdict.

All convicts will be sentenced on January 28. One of the accused, Mohammed Sahil alias Vikki, was dropped by the court for lack of evidence. Of the 42 shelters in the shelter, 34 were abused. In this case there were cases against the accused under Poxo.

Medical examination of the students revealed that 34 girls were raped. The investigation revealed that the drug was misbehaving on the students. The children were also brutally beaten and then forced to have sexual relations with them.

The court had earlier dismissed the investigating authorities for the delay in the CBI and shifted the case to Delhi immediately. CBI has made Brajesh Thakur the main accused. In addition, the official of the social welfare department of the government was also charged.

It was revealed that the racket was operated by the administrator only with the help of a government official. The culprits included twelve men and eight women. In this case, the then JDU government's then Social Welfare Minister Manju Verma had to resign. Her husband Chandrasekhar was also accused of sexual harassment case at Shelter Home.

When did the case happen?

• The seat was formed on 31st May-2018. An FIR was registered against 11, including Brajesh Thakur.

On August 5, 2018, Governor Satyapal Malik suspended six directors of the Social Welfare Department.

On February 7, 2019, the Supreme Court transferred the case from Bihar to Delhi court.
