Jammu and Kashmir was not part of India before Article 370 repealed: PDP

Shri Nagar, Ta. Tuesday 28 January 2020

PDP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Fayaz Ahmed angrily challenged the recent speech of the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir that before the 370th Article was abolished, were we a part of Pakistan?

Speaking at the Republic Day ceremony on Sunday, January 26, Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor GC Murmu said that after the cancellation of the 370th Article last year, Jammu and Kashmir became a truly integral part of India.

His statement contradicted Fayyaz Ahmed and challenged the governor's statement. He said that what you mean is that before Jammu and Kashmir was not a part of India? Were we a part of Pakistan? If the situation is really normal, why don't the detained political leaders be released?

Fayyaz claimed that on the contrary, the problems of the people increased after Jammu and Kashmir became a union territory. Earlier, the ruling party had said that we should not talk to separatist leaders. But now they do not even talk to the mainstream political leaders. It is unclear what kind of development this is. He questioned how long such double standards should last.
