Delhi: West Bengal will not have a table at the parade on January 26 this year

New delhi date. 2 January 2020, Thursday

On January 26 this year, it was reported that West Bengal tables would not be seen at the Republic Day Parade in the capital city New Delhi.

However, West Bengal table was seen in 2019 last year. In the Republic Day parade, almost all of the states send out tables displaying their culture and customs.

For the past few years, there has been a thunderstorm between Central and West Bengal on more than one issue. The Chief Minister of West Bengal is constantly pushing horns against the Center so that the power does not slip away from his hands in the coming assembly elections.

On almost every issue, Mamata Banerjee is taking an aggressive stance and has been vehemently criticizing the Modi government.

A spokesperson for the Defense Department of the Center said that West Bengal's proposal was rejected by the experts' committee after discussions in two meetings. So West Bengal will not be present in Republic Day this year.

The spokesperson said that this year, 56 tables were proposed from different states out of which 22 were selected. Of these, 16 are from the States and Union Territories and six are from the Union Territories.

Political scholars believe that Mamata will do the same by making the issue a partisan issue of centrality towards her state.
