Cold kills 10 in Kanpur; 8 die in accident due to fog in Churu

On the second day of rain and snowfall in northern India, the whole area was frozen once again with thunderstorms on Thursday. In Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, 10 more people were killed due to cold.

In Rajasthan, eight people were killed in an accident due to fog. On the other hand, Himachal Pradesh had a low of minus 14.6 degrees in Killong, Lahaul-Spiti due to heavy snowfall.

In the first village of Kashmir, mercury was minus 13.7 degrees while Mount Abu was minus 2.4 degrees. Killong, in Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal, recorded a low of minus 14.6 degrees. Similarly, Amritsar in Punjab recorded 2.2 degrees Celsius and Hisar 3.2 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature in Delhi dropped on Thursday and is likely to drop further in the coming days. Cold waves have hit the whole of north India once again due to snowfall and cold winds in the mountainous regions, weather experts said. The minimum temperature in the city was 8.4 degrees.

The average maximum and minimum temperature in the plains of North India will drop by 2 to 3 degrees, the Meteorological Department said. Safdarjung area received 10.8 mm of rainfall. Delhi-NCR is expected to rain again on January 13-14.

Due to snowfall in most mountainous areas of Himachal Pradesh, the temperature was below zero at tourist destinations like Shimla, Kufri and Manali. Many parts of Rajasthan were also hit by a cold on Thursday. 8 people were killed when a van collided with a van due to fog in Churu.
