Chinese People's Liberation Army launches massive military drill in Tibet

Beijing, Ta. Monday 6 January 2020

The Chinese military has launched a huge military exercise in the overgrown Tibetan area adjacent to the Indian border. The Chinese army has deployed Type-15s, lightweight war tanks and new cannons that can be mounted on 155mm vehicles, as reported.

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Tibet military command has begun a New Year's study in the stretched Tibetan areas adjacent to the Indian border. Under it, the PLA has deployed helicopters, armored vehicles, heavy artillery and missiles to launch missiles from Tibet's capital, Lhasa, to the Border Defense Front Line. The actual control line between India and China is 3,488 km long which extends to the borders of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. But China claims that Arunachal Pradesh is part of southern Tibet.

Both tanks and cannons deployed at the border were presented to the public during the National Day Army Parade on October 1st last year. They are both designed to be used especially in mountainous areas so that they can play an important role in protecting border areas.

According to a report from an army expert, the Type-15, a lightweight war tank and a cannon capable of holding new 15 MM vehicles, are equipped with both powerful engines to conduct tactical warfare exercises in Tibetan areas. According to him, heavy weapons are difficult to deliver to non-oxygen border areas and if they are lightweight, they do not have the required fire power.

The Type-15 tank is the only modern lightweight tank in the world equipped with a 105 millimeter gun and sophisticated sensor. It is also capable of wiping out enemy lightly-armed vehicles. When a six-wheeled 155mm vehicle can hold more caliber, it can react much faster and is easier to deploy.
