CAA enforcement began in the country amidst several protests

New Delhi, 11 January 2020, Saturday

According to a formal announcement made by the Union Home Department, the new Citizenship Act (CAA) has been in force across the country since Friday, January 10 amid several violent protests.

According to this law, non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will start giving Indian citizenship.

The Home Department disclosed the details of the matter and said that according to the powers conferred under sub-section two of Article One of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019, Indian citizenship will now begin to be granted to the refugees concerned (non-Muslim people from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan).

Under the Act, the power to protect citizenship was given to the Center from January 10. The law was enacted by the central government on December 11 last year, which was signed by President Ram Nath Kovind after approval by both houses of parliament on the bill.

It should be remembered here that anti-violence demonstrations and rallies took place across the country. Kerala and West Bengal agreed that we would not enforce this law at any cost.
