67-year-old leader of the NCP. P Tripathi passed away in Delhi after a prolonged illness

The capital of NCP leader DP Tripathi died in New Delhi after a prolonged illness.

Tripathi was 67 years old. Prior to being active in politics, he also served as the president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union.

After joining politics, Tripathi was an active member of the Congress party. Sharad Pawar joined the NCP after leaving the Congress to protest against Sonia Gandhi. Born in Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Tripathi was an orator.

Tripathi first alleged that the Modi government was taking political advantage of it after the Indian army made a surgical strike in Uri.

Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP President Sharad Pawar, confirmed the news and said that Tripathi, who was the NCP's general secretary, was a mentor and inspiration for young activists like us.
