Third phase 62.60% voting for 17 seats in Jharkhand

In Jharkhand, 17 seats were voted in more than 61 per cent of the third phase of the polls today. The polls, which started at seven in the morning, were peaceful.

Voting was held at 5 pm in Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke, Barakatha and Ramgarh, while polling was closed at three in the remaining polling stations, Election Commission officials said. Voters included 2680205 women and 86 third-caste people .The future of 309 candidates, including 32 women, was sealed in the EVM.

The five-phase Jharkhand assembly elections with 81 seats began on November 30, 2019. The last phase of voting takes place on December 20. Jharkhand Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said that about 40,000 staff had taken over the election system.

Of the 40 thousand polling stations raised for the third phase, 1008 were identified as critical and 543 sensitive. In other areas, 1119 polling stations were criticized as critical and 2672 sensitive. There were 13504 ballet units and 8772 controlling units and 9123 were used, an official said.
