The 'Chillai Kalan' period of forty days in Kashmir started in Kashmir

The whole of India was choked in the cold on Saturday. The forty days of extreme cold in Kashmir, called Chillai Kalan, began today with a severe cold.

For 40 days the cold has to be closed in several places where the chills are cold. So the capital of the country was cloudy in New Delhi and the fog did not get the benefit of the sun.

Due to the extremely cold winds, the microcosms landed and thick fog engulfed the entire city. At 4 o'clock in the evening, the air index of the air condition was 418 which falls in the worst category.

In Delhi, the mercury settled at a low of 9.5 and a maximum of 18 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. Gulmarg, the famous ski resort in north Kashmir, today had a minimum temperature of 9.5 and maximum temperature 18 degree Celsius.

In Kashmir, the snowfall started on Friday and it took place overnight. The Chilai Kalan was also started from today. The first camp used as a base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra received 21 cm of snowfall and the temperature was below three degrees below zero.
