Shashi Tharoor wins Jinnah's views on Mahatma Gandhi if citizenship bill is passed

Leading Congress leader and former External Affairs Minister Shashi Dharoor said that the passage of the Citizenship Reform Bill would mean victory of the views of Mahatma Gandhi over the views of Mahatma Gandhi.

Giving citizenship on the basis of religion would make India a Hindutva of Pakistan. The Congress leader alleged that the BJP government wanted to separate "one community".

Shashi Dhur said that granting citizenship on the basis of religion would reduce the level of India and become a Hindu version of Pakistan.

The Congress leader alleged that the BJP government wanted to isolate one community and refused to provide political asylum to its members, like the people of other communities who were victims of the same situation.

He said that this was only a selfish political move, so that people of the same community could be separated in India and removed from their citizenship.
