Mobile phone numbers can be ported in just three days

New Delhi, Dec 4-Dec 2-19, Wednesday

According to an official announcement made by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRI), in just three days from now, any user can port his mobile telephone number from one service to another.

The user can change the company without changing their number. This rule was already there. Previously, it took seven to eight days to port a number. Now, according to the provision, customer number will have to be ported within three or at most five days.

A company spokesperson said the company would be fined Rs 10,000 for violating this wage. No service provider can refuse the customer's request under false pretenses.

The biggest revision in the new revised rule is in terms of unique porting code. As soon as the customer receives a request, the service provider will have to forward it to the respective MNPSP. MNVSP will check the donor operator's database and prepare the UPC and then send it to the customer.
