Karnataka by-polls continue to be counted, BJP ahead of 10 seats

Bengaluru Date: 9th December 2019, Monday

Hours are underway for Karnataka's Yeddyurappa government to announce its fate. The by-polls in Karnataka are underway and the BJP was ahead of ten seats this morning. Congress was leading in two seats.

Yeddyurappa's four-month-old government does not have a majority. Today, BJP must win at least six seats to sustain its government.

Even Congress leaders are sitting in line with today's results. Congress' BK Hariprasad said today's results will shape the future of Karnataka. The Congress is hopeful that if the BJP does not get a majority, it will be able to form its own government by joining hands with the Janata Dal Secular.

Yeddyurappa and BJP are sure to be able to prove themselves a majority till the neck. Counting is currently underway and the situation is likely to clear by twelve o'clock.
