Ireland's Prime Minister arrives in Sindhudurg

Native Indians and those from Maharashtra, Ireland's Prime Minister Leo Varadkar were reported to have reached their ancestral village.

Shri Varadkar has visited the homeland with his entire family. He described the visit as very personal and was happy to be back home.

Leo Varadkar became Ireland's Prime Minister in June 2017. Their ancestral village Varad is located in Malwan taluka in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. The place is 500 km away from Mumbai.

Leo's father, Ashok Varadkar, is a doctor by profession and has lived in England since the 1960s.

The relatives of Varadkar, who lived in Varad village, warmly welcomed Varadkar's Aarti from his traditional Marathi style. The joy of coming to his ancestral village could be seen on Varadkar's face.
