Heavy snowfall in north Kashmir was reported on Tuesday evening. It was snowing in Kupwara and Bandipora areas of the state, a military spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, there was heavy snowfall in the Karnah sector of Kupwara and the Guraj sector in Bandipora. Snowfall 18,000 feet above sea level lost all of the army personnel whose search was immediately launched.
The Indian Army's Avalanche rescue team and helicopters were deployed. In recent past, the Siachen Glacier area had also received heavy snowfall, resulting in the loss of lives. The Siachen area is considered one of the highest icebergs in the world, where Indian peasants are forced to flee at the risk of life.
