Three hanged for murdering protesters in Bihar

Bihar's Araria district court on Saturday awarded death sentence to three accused who shot and killed seven people who protested profanity and sentenced seven others to life imprisonment.

The court has sentenced the three accused in the murder case to death in Araria district of Bihar. In addition, seven other accused involved in the massacre have been sentenced to life imprisonment.

ADS (Second) Judge Raman Kumar convicted all 10 accused in the murder case and sentenced Mohammad Irshad, Mohamed Tarej and Mohd Dilshad to death.

According to a public prosecutor, Prabha Kumari, the 10 men shot and killed 35-year-old Mohammed Wahid, who had protested profanity on December 8, 2013.

All the accused and the deceased in this case belong to the village Berea, coming under Narapatganj police station in the district. In the six-year-old case, the deceased, his father and older brother protested against the accusations uttered by the accused so that they provoked Mohammed Wahid with a gun.
