Supreme Court reserves Chidambaram's bail application verdict

During a hearing in the Supreme Court of the INX money laundering case filed by the EDA, the ED said that Chidambaram was also influencing the witnesses from custody. On the other hand, the Congress leader said that the agency cannot destroy my career and reputation by making baseless allegations.

It may be mentioned that Chidambaram had filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court for not granting bail in the money laundering case. Whose trial is currently underway. Supreme Court reserves judgment on Chidambaram's bail application

Opposing Chidambaram's plea, the ED said that financial crimes like money laundering are serious and would not only damage the country's economy, but also the people's trust in the government.

Rejecting Chidambaram's report on dealing with Ranga and Badla, the present Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who is present on the ED, told the bench headed by Justice R Bhanumati that only the crimes committed by Ranga and Badla are serious?

Speaking on behalf of 74-year-old former finance minister, Kapil Sibal, referring to the criminals named Ranga and Billa, yesterday said that they were being treated like Chidambaram.

Mehta further told the bench that we have evidence which proves that he is in judicial custody or that he has tried to influence the witnesses in police custody.
