The traditional Diwali festival, which started at Dhanteras, was celebrated with enthusiasm and enthusiasm all over India but the people of S Mamapatti and Kolukudipatti in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu did not celebrate Diwali. Every time a series of festivals start from Dhanteras to Bhaibij.

But it would be astonishing to know that people have not seen the sound of daylight or fireworks in these villages for the last 60 years. When the countrymen celebrated Diwali, there were a routine days for the villages of Mampatti and Kolukuddipatti. The reason behind why people in this village do not celebrate Deepu is also inspired.

The Vattengudi bird sanctuary is located near both Mamapatti and Kolukudipatti villages. The people of this village have a great affection for the birds. Diwali crackers do not celebrate Diwali for decades so as not to disturb the birds residing in the sanctuary.

According to the information received from October to March, birds of the Horns, dartars, spoonbills, Asian open bills, flamingos etc. are present in the bird's century of Ahiya. These birds are accustomed to living in tranquil surroundings. According to the elders, at one time the people of Mamapatti Kolukuddipatigam used to take money from the farmers to celebrate Diwali.

Thus, instead of celebrating Diwali by harassing the birds, the village people refused to celebrate Diwali. In 1958, the village people vowed not to celebrate Diwali by the testimony of the goddess is still observed. The elders taking this pledge are not alive today but their generation is still following the pledge so there is no festival like Diwali in the village.
