Gujarat cases lead by 324% in 1 year, Gujarat leading

Cancer patients are on the rise at an alarming pace across the country. Statistics released by the National Health Profile show that cancer cases have increased by 324 percent in a single year between 2017 and 2018.

Based on data from NCD Clinics (Non Communicable Disease), it was said that in the last year ie, in 2018, 6.5 million people were diagnosed with cancer. Of these, 1.6 million people were diagnosed with cancer.

Gujarat has reported the highest number of cancer cases. According to this report, 3989 cancer cases were registered in Gujarat in 2-17 while the number increased to 72169 in 2018. After Gujarat, worst case scenario is Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and West Bengal.

Doctors believe that people's changing lifestyles, eating habits, alcohol and tobacco are the main reasons behind more cancer cases. Due to this, there are more cases of oral cancer, cervical cancer and breast cancer in particular.
