Stop blaming me, BJP has been ruling for five years: Manmohan

Five years is enough to show your efficiency: It's worrying that the country's growth rate is declining

East PM admits his failures: Piyush Goyal's attack on Manmohan Singh

(PTI) Mumbai, Oct 17, 2019, Thursday

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has responded to the Mumbai election rally in Mumbai on Thursday after finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman was blamed for the poor conditions of the banks. Manmohan Singh said that the current government has a zealous rush to lay the blame on the UPA for the poor economy of the country.

But it has failed to find a solution to the financial problems. You have been the government for the last five years in the country and about five and a half years is enough to solve every financial problem.

The former Prime Minister said that the economic downturn, the government's apathy is affecting the future and aspirations of Indians. The crisis on the farmers to keep inflation low, the government's import-export policy is also causing financial problems. He also claimed industrial status in Maharashtra was too weak and many units were shutting down.

The BJP government is only interested in putting a dent in the UPA and it has failed to find a solution to the problems. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram has blamed former prime minister Manmohan Singh and former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan on the poor situation of public sector banks in the country.

He said at a seminar at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs that the "worst time" for government banks was the tenure of Manmohan Singh and Raghuram Rajan.

Responding to Sitharaman's remarks, Manmohan Singh said that whatever happened in the Congress rule, some 'mistakes' were made, but the NDA government should learn from the mistakes of the UPA and provide a "reliable solution" to the problem. You can't just blame the UPA government for years.

You have been in power for the last five and a half years and this is enough time to bring the economy back into good shape. You cannot solve the country's problems by merely blaming the UPA.

He said that India needs a growth rate of 10 to 12 per cent to build a $ 5 trillion economy, but during the BJP regime, growth rate has been falling year by year. With the declining growth rate every year, India cannot achieve its target of creating a five trillion-dollar economy by 2024.

Meanwhile, after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's attack on Prime Minister Modi for the country's economic recovery, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that Manmohan Singh was running a corrupt government.

He must admit his government's failures. He was running a corrupt government that led to many scams. In Maharashtra, there was no new industry except corruption and scams during the UPA government.

Goyal said that Manmohan Singh should reflect on his failures. Where they went wrong, why could they not maintain a strong economic system and give an honest government. Why were they so helpless that they had to obey the orders of 10 paths.

Abuse of government agencies by keeping a political feud will stop

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh along with his Cabinet colleagues P. Chidambaram, NCP President Sharad Pawar and NCP leader Praful Patel, ED, criticized the Modi government for the CBI action, warning the Modi government against misuse of government agencies by keeping it as a political satire. He made the remarks at a time when the Enforcement Directorate (ED), a former Union minister from Tihar Jail, P.K. Chidambaram has been arrested. Apart from this, the ED has also consulted NCP President Sharad Pawar and senior leader Praful Patel.

Congress is not opposed to Veer Savarkar, contrary to his ideology: Manmohan

Mumbai, Ta. 17

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is campaigning for the Congress elections in Maharashtra, had a scuffle when he attacked the BJP government on issues such as Vir Savarkar, NRC, the country's poor economic condition and brought the Congress into a state of defense. While the Maharashtra BJP has demanded Bharat Ratna for Veer Savarkar, the Congress has criticized the BJP. Explaining the matter, Manmohan Singh on Thursday said that Indira Gandhi had described Veer Savarkar as son of Bharat Mata and freedom fighter and issued a postal stamp in his memory. However, he later said that he did not support Savarkar's Hindu ideology. On the economic situation of the country, he confessed that his government had made some 'mistakes'. On the NRC issue, Manmohan Singh said that he is not against the NRC, but on the NRC issue, our law discriminates against Muslims.
